Bach was appointed to the position of County Administrator on March 8\, 2014. Before this appointment\, he served in the position of Deputy County Administrator beginning March 2003. He earned his Master of Public Administration degree from Kansas State University in May 1990.\n\n\n\nAs County Administrator\, Bach directs day-to-day operations of the Unified Government and implements policy as directed by the Mayor and Board of Commission. He is responsible for developing and submitting the operating and capital budget for the government annually and providing staff support services to the Board of Commission and its committee meetings.\n\n\n\nDuring his tenure as Deputy\, Doug directed multiple major economic development projects that have brought in hundreds of millions of dollars into the area\, which ultimately helped stabilize the local economy during one of the worst economic downturns in our nation's history. A record-breaking construction boom that's created thousands of jobs\, built strong public and private partnerships and established KCK and Wyandotte County as one of the most business friendly governments in the region.\n\n\n\nBach's career with the City of Kansas City\, KS began before consolidation in June 1990. He served as a Budget Analyst in the Department of Finance\; Program Manager in the department of Community Development\; and again as a Budget and Fiscal Analyst. His career also includes serving (5) years as an auditor for the Kansas City\, KS Police Department\, (2) years as the Purchasing Director\, and in the position of Assistant County Administrator.\n\n\n\nBach also maintains a certificate in Regional and Community Planning from KSU\; a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science\; Major in Public Administration and Minor in Communications all from Fort Hays State University.\n\n\n\nHe is currently a board member for the United Way of Wyandotte County\, the Kansas City Kansas Convention and Visitors Bureau\, and the Executive Committee for Kansas City World Cup 2026. Additionally\, he is a past president and board member of the Kansas Association of City and County Managers and has served on various committees for the International City/County Management Association and the Kansas City\, KS Chamber of Commerce and is a current member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and Optimist International-Piper Club.
